Ruth Ede is a green agriculturist, entrepreneur, and climate advocate dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture, waste management, and youth participation in sustainability in Nigeria.
Her achievements have been recognized through various awards, including the Africa Green Female Award in 2021 by the embassy of Sweden to Nigeria and the EETF, she was also Nigeria’s Overall Winner and Global Runner-up at the Denmark 2022 Global Food Safety Challenge, Overall winner of the Goshen Impact Fund 2023, 2024 United People Global Sustainability Leader and Nigeria’s Overall winner at the AYuTe Africa Challenge 2024.
Through her company, Scratop Nigeria Limited, Ruth is recovering and converting bio wastes into nutrient-rich bio fertilizers for safe food crop production. Her mission extends to promoting food safety and security , biowaste recovery and utilization, climate education, sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
Academically, Ruth holds a distinction in Agricultural Extension and Management from the Federal College of Land Resources and Technology Owerri Imo State (2015) and was the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Agricultural Education at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (2020). She has also graduated from the Future Females Business School (UK Nigeria Business Institute) and gotten an Agribusiness certification from Wegeningen University and Research Netherlands.
Ruth convenes the annual Scratop Summit to transit present farmers and farmers in training into sustainable agriculture. She also leads the Earlier the Greener initiative which is focused on educating, inspiring and empowering young people to become eco champions and actively contribute to a green world.
